Introduction

Teaching and learning English in Palestine poses distinct challenges. Although there are various and complicated factors hindering Palestinian students’ ability to compete in the international job market, one major obstacle is their English language proficiency. On April 7th and 8th, The Language and Translation Center (LTC) at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron will be holding a two-day conference “Contextualizing English Language within the Palestinian Experience” (CELPE). The main aim of the conference is to provide a platform for scholars and researchers from various universities in Palestine to explore the most recent trends and developments in the field of teaching English and contextualizing it within a local experience. It also aims at exchanging ideas and research outcomes on topics related to the themes of the conference.
